Mediate served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and continues to work for the Air Force in space systems management. As president of the Notre Dame Club of Colorado Springs the past two years, he has increased attendance at service and social events, launched a club website, and planned a successful weekend of events for the Notre Dame-Air Force football game. He has served St. Gabriel's Catholic Church as a catechist and co-director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program.

Phillips is a systems engineer for IBM, where he was worked for more than 30 years. He has been an active member of the Notre Dame Club of St. Louis since 1995, including serving as president in 2008. He is currently a director of the Alumni Association Diversity Council, Regions 5 and 14, and is a past director of Black Alumni of Notre Dame, Region 2. Phillips serves on the boards of several St. Louis area youth and educational foundations.

Scapellati recruits medical and dental professionals to volunteer at the organization’s three clinics in Honduras. As the current president of the Notre Dame Club of Cape Cod, she coordinated the club’s first Hesburgh Lecture and increased membership by 25% in the past year. Scapellati serves on the Advisory Board at Pope John Paul II High School, on her parish’s Respect Life Ministry, and on the Nauset Regional High School Council.

Pangraze lettered in golf for four years. A former member of Notre Dame Club of the Western Carolinas, he joined the Notre Dame Club of Richmond in 2007 and was elected president in 2012. He initiated the club newsletter, re-launched the club website, and created an annual golf/gala event with over $50,000 funds raised for scholarships. Pangraze volunteers at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic School and is married to Kay (Healy) Pangraze ’85.

Lipka works as a business analyst and has held numerous roles in the Notre Dame Club of Eastern North Carolina, including his current role as president. He has been instrumental in updating the club’s website and improving communications to club members. During his two terms as president, the club has earned Club of Excellence and Club of Distinction awards. Lipka volunteers at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Community and the North Carolina Project Management Institute.

Fenton has spent his career in non-profit management and has served as board member and officer of Notre Dame clubs in Washington, D.C. and Florida. He is past president of the Notre Dame Club of the Palm Beaches, current president of the Notre Dame Club of Boca Raton, and also volunteers in leadership roles with the Order of Malta and the Knights of Columbus. Fenton, his wife, and their two daughters–one is a first year Domer–are parishioners at St. Joan of Arc Church in Boca Raton.

Ferguson works in the finance sector. Active in the Notre Dame Club of North Jersey where she serves as Summer Service Learning Program coordinator and host, she was named "Person of the Year" in 2009. A founding member of the ND Women Connect (NDWC) Steering Committee, Ferguson currently advises the New York City NDWC chapter. She participates in initiatives for the Mendoza College of Business and the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center and has volunteered at many organizations in her community.

Caron is an architect specializing in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. As part of the Leadership Board of the Notre Dame Club of Washington, D.C., she served as editor of the club newsletter and was active with ND Women Connect. Caron served as a volunteer kitchen worker at a crisis center for the homeless in Washington, D.C., and currently serves as a volunteer young adult ministry coordinator at St. Paul Inside the Walls, a Catholic evangelization center in Madison, NJ.

Jim Gradoville ’76

Jim is a long-time resident of Asia, working in China for the past 16 years. Jim was the vice president for government relations in Asia for Motorola and president of United Technologies’ international operations in China. More recently, Jim served as the CEO of the World Wildlife Fund in China. He is currently the deputy director of the International Potato Center in Beijing. Jim is one of the three original founders of the Notre Dame Club of Beijing, a member of the Asia Studies Advisory Board and a member of the Greater China Scholarship Selection Committee. Additionally Jim organized a very successful University event during the 2008 Beijing Olympics to celebrate Notre Dame student-athletes participating in the games. The event was attended by senior University officials, including Provost Thomas G. Burish ’72 and Executive Vice President John Affleck-Graves, as well as government officials, University guests, students and alumni.

Raul Gutierrez ’00

After graduating from Notre Dame, Raul went on to receive his M.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso and his Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Arizona State University. He then moved into his current position as a wetland scientist for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at the Region 6 Office in Dallas, Texas. He is also a Research Associate at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas in Fort Worth. He has served on the Hispanic Alumni Board since 2010 as a Regional Representative and Vice-Chair.
