View the Dome Yearbook Online

Until now, the Dome—Notre Dame’s student yearbookhas been accessible only in libraries and archive collections. That means the treasure trove of ND history, including iconic photos of Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Knute Rockne, George Gipp, John Cardinal O’Hara, and campus visitors such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Louie Armstrong and Elvis Presley, have been relatively hard to find.

Not so anymore. Notre Dame has partnered with e-yearbook.com to scan every issue of the Dome, dating back to Volume 1, which was published in 1906, and make them available to view online.

The collection is housed on the subscription-based website e-yearbook.com, a family-owned company in Burlingame, Calif. Subscribers can access the site to look for photos of friends and relatives or to simply view the fascinating evolution of student culture and to read accounts of historic Notre Dame sporting events.

The cost to subscribe to the site is $4.95 per month (with a four-month minimum) or $39.95 per year. A portion of the fee goes to the University to support the publication of the Dome. There is no charge to browse thumbnail versions.

Notre Dame holds the copyright to all of the materials, and downloads are low-resolution and limited to personal, non-commercial use.

For more information or to subscribe to the site, contact Bob Franken ’69, Notre Dame print media coordinator for the Student Activities Office, at 574-631-3671 or by e-mail.
