Notre Dame’s efforts to advance its Catholic mission were strengthened last summer when University President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., named Rev. Robert Sullivan associate vice president for Academic Mission Support. Father Sullivan is responsible for assisting ND’s colleges, schools, institutes, and centers with their academic programs that advance the University’s Catholic mission and character. He supports these programs in collaboration with one another, and assists them with mission-related initiatives—all in an effort to advance the academic side of the Catholic mission.  [Full Story]

Irish Fans Cheer on ND at Michigan
  
Last month, the Alumni Association invited Irish fans to attend the Notre Dame tailgate in Ann Arbor prior to the gridiron match-up against Michigan. The event, sponsored by Student Activities, the NDAA, and the Notre Dame Club of Ann Arbor (with support from the Notre Dame Clubs of Grand Rapids and Lansing), featured music, food, and an appearance by the Notre Dame Band and cheerleaders. More than 2,000 ND fans, including some 500 students, attended the tailgate, mingling with each other in the ND spirit. View photos of the Fighting Irish tailgate.  
 

Geddes HallNew Geddes Hall Opens
  
Notre Dame’s Geddes Hall is coming to life. The staff of the University’s Center for Social Concerns (CSC) moved into the newly constructed building this summer, and will be joined by other units of the Institute for Church Life (ICL)—the Center for Catechetical Initiatives, the Church Music Initiative, the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy, Notre Dame Vision, and the Satellite Theological Education Program—and others dedicated to educating the mind and the heart.  [Full Story]

Big Plans for San Antonio
  
When Notre Dame takes on Washington State in San Antonio this Halloween, the Irish will bring more than just their pads and helmets to The Lone Star State. ND will bring an entire game weekend experience nearly 1,300 miles southwest of Notre Dame Stadium to the Alamodome, beginning with a pep rally and finishing with a service project before the big game.  [Full Story]

Building on the success of last year’s program, Notre Dame held its third annual Energy Week September 13-19 on campus. Several activities throughout the week focused on educating students about the world’s energy crisis, and informing them about what the University is doing in terms of energy-related research to address these energy challenges.  [Full Story]

Peer Mentors Build Community
  
Even on a campus as welcoming as Notre Dame, making the transition from high school to college can be difficult. This is especially true in a field such as engineering, where classes may be unlike anything students experienced in a high school environment. Since the College of Engineering developed a Peer Mentors program in 2005, upperclassmen have worked to ease this transition and foster a welcoming atmosphere for first-year engineering students.  [Full Story]

Career Webinar Series Benefits Alums
  
Since the Alumni Association teamed up with the ND Career Center, the Mendoza College of Business, and the ND Law School to create ONWARD: Alumni Career Development, it has been able to help several ND alumni looking for career and networking guidance. Most recently, the program offered several free online video seminars, entitled “Savvy Landings: Career Transition Webinar Series,” aimed at providing job seekers with insightful advice on how to emerge as the ideal job candidate. The series also benefitted those alumni with jobs who sought general career education. More than 500 alumni participated in the webinars.  [Full Story]

Orphans Can Dream Too
  
Many remember Andrea Loman ’03 as one of the top-five Notre Dame softball players of all time. Today, she dedicates herself to the group she founded called Orphans Can Dream Too (OCDT), a non-profit organization designed to assist children worldwide, beginning with one of the largest slums in the world, Kibera, Kenya.  [Full Story]

Graduation may have taken you away from Notre Dame’s campus, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the college experience.
