Letter about President Obama's Visit
It has come to the attention of the Alumni Association that some Notre Dame alumni recently received a letter from Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, regarding the University’s invitation to President Obama to speak at this year’s Commencement.
The Alumni Association wants to assure you that letter was not sent by either the University or the Alumni Association. It was sent without our permission, approval, or prior knowledge. In addition, we did not provide any alumni contact information to the organization that sent the letter. [Full Story]

Father Jenkins Addresses Alumni Senate
At the 2009 Alumni Senate, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C, president of Notre Dame, discussed the invitation to President Barack Obama to speak at this year’s University Commencement Ceremony.
Father Jenkins addressed the 295 ND club, class and alumni group leaders from around the world who were attending the annual conference on campus April 23 - 25. [Full Story]

Safety, Security, and Hospitality Committee Submits Report
The University’s ad hoc Committee on Campus Safety, Security, and Hospitality has submitted its report and recommendations to President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C. The 12-page report includes 21 recommendations from the committee, which reviewed protocols and practices and considered concerns or suggestions that people have raised about on-campus activities during home football game weekends. 5 Questions with Frances Shavers
In this issue of ND Today, meet Frances Shavers ’90, chief of staff and special assistant to the President of Notre Dame, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C. In her position, Shavers holds direct responsibility for coordinating Father Jenkins' schedule, assisting with his preparation for all presidential events, and directing the flow of correspondence. She also serves as the president's liaison to the athletics department, serves on the Faculty Board on Athletics, and assists the Athletics Committee of the Board. In addition, Shavers is the staff liaison to the Social Values and Responsibilities Committee of the Board and serves as co-chair of the University Committee on Diversity. [Full Story]

School of Architecture Receives Top-10 Ranking
Notre Dame’s School of Architecture has been ranked among the top 10 institutions in the annual America’s Best Architecture Schools survey by the Design Futures Council. In the 2009 survey, the School of Architecture ranked 10th, rising two spots from its No. 12 ranking in 2008. Cornell University ranked No. 1, up from second place last year. [Full Story] |
