2009 Commencement
CommencementOn May 17, Notre Dame sent another class of engineers, writers, artists, scientists, historians, and thinkers into the world in a special commencement ceremony that celebrated four years of hard work and commitment. More than 2,900 students received their Notre Dame diplomas. The 2009 Commencement took place at 2 p.m. at the Joyce Center. For many students and their families, the ceremony was the culmination of a weekend packed with receptions, concerts, and other celebratory events. [Full Story]

ND Ranks High as 'Dream College'
Notre Dame is a top choice for parents of college applicants, according to an annual survey of prospective students and their parents by the Princeton Review. In the survey of some 12,715 college applicants and 3,007 parents of applicants, Notre Dame ranked fourth as a “dream college” among parents of college applicants. [Full Story]

Princeton Fellow Appointed to Program in Religion and Public Life
Philip MunozVincent Phillip Muñoz, the William E. Simon Visiting Fellow in Religion and American Public Life at Princeton University and assistant professor of political science at Tufts University, has been appointed an associate professor of political science at Notre Dame. He becomes the first faculty member in the new Tocqueville Program for Inquiry into Religion and American Public Life, which he will also help to administer.  [Full Story]

Tradition Continues with Eucharistic Procession
On April 26, the congregants of the 11:45 a.m. Mass poured out of Notre Dame’s Basilica of the Sacred Heart and joined a half dozen Holy Cross priests and the ND Women’s Liturgical Choir singing “Sing My Tongue the Savior’s Glory.” It was the beginning of the Eucharistic Procession that happens once a year at the University. 'The Shirt' Gleams Gold for 20th Anniversary
This year marks the 20th anniversary of what Matthew Barloh ’10 calls “one of the greatest Notre Dame traditions.” It’s 20 years of The Shirt, a project that began in 1990 when Notre Dame students rallied together in matching t-shirts, turning their section of the football stadium into a green mass to help the Fighting Irish take on the rival Michigan Wolverines.
