Five Questions With Charlie Weis

In between his busy spring schedule, which included visits with 12 ND clubs across the country, recruiting, the Blue-Gold Game and spring practice, Notre Dame Head Football Coach Charlie Weis ’78 sat down to answer a few questions for ND Today readers.

ND Today: As a student, what was your favorite part about home football weekends?

Charlie Weis: Getting a steak sandwich at the Knights of Columbus on the way to a pregame tailgate.

NDT: What one class stands out most from your undergraduate years?

CW: Argumentation

NDT: What is your favorite sport other than football?

CW: I enjoy watching all other Notre Dame sports teams, but my favorite to play is baseball/softball.

NDT: What is a good book you have read recently?

CW: Miles From the Sideline: A Mother’s Journey with Her Special Need Daughter by my wife, Maura Weis

NDT: What is your favorite place on the Notre Dame campus?

CW: The Grotto and St. Mary’s Lake. I have spent a lot of time saying prayers at the Grotto and then sitting on the benches by the lake to feed the ducks Cheerios from the dining hall. Trust me, they love ‘em.
